The process of building…

Designing things on paper is one thing, but actually making them is quite another. One of the things I had never considered was the amount of time that goes into building something from scratch. What started as a concept, developed into a sketch, that developped into a technical drawing which (after a long and arduous process) became an object.FullSizeRender 17

The process was actually my favorite part even though it was hours of measuring, re-measuring and calculating. Eventually it started to take shape.

Finally I finished it after hours in the woodshop, cutting, sanding, staining and gluing. Not to mention a good amount in the metal shop bending that handle into the perfect shape. In the end (much to my surprise) it looked exactly like my initial drawings.

It turned out to be a great laptop table… just as I had envisioned it. I was really satisfying. Exhausting, but satisfying.
